A Hint of Life's post about how to have a weekend tripAs you may have noticed, I was in Mexico this past weekend! It was a short trip but full of fun activities. When I was still in school, my family and I used to travel a lot during the entire year. It didn’t matter which season it was, there was always somewhere to go… this is where my love for planes, airports and travel started. Some people hate airports, I love them and when I don’t see enough of them… it’s sad.

Anyway, fast-forward a couple of years and things changed. Thankfully, we are still able to travel although not nearly as much as before. Partly because I now have a full-time job and partly economic reasons. This is when I started to look more into weekend trips; sounds fun. Weekends are waaay too short in my opinion but somehow when you are out of town, they seem to last a bit longer. This is what happened last week

Took a plane after work on Friday, landed in Mexico at 1am, Woke up at 7am on Saturday, went on tourist mode, slept and woke up on Sunday at 6am to go on tourist mode again, slept and at 2am woke up to head to the airport. At 11am on Monday, I was in the office. Quick, tiring but somehow refreshing. Of course, trips like this take a lot of planning and scheduling but it’s possible.

To be honest, I wasn’t going to go on this trip because I didn’t want to ask my boss if I could be late on Monday but I think, my travel love kicked in and I just went for it. It worked, he said no problem. Moral of the story is: Don’t be afraid to ask, worst thing that can happen is he/she says “no” but you’ll never get a “yes” if you don’t ask. JUST ASK & ENJOY!
