Where I have been and What to do when feeling down

Hi guys! Long time no see 🙁 I just wanted to update you guys on where I’ve been for the past couple of weeks.

As you may know by now (Belen wrote this blog post), my family and I have been going through a rough couple of months which has led me to have a rough semester at school; like doing my projects late, not able to concentrate during class… All in all, I lost interest in what I loved, especially in my classes. So for the past few weeks, I’ve been pouring my all in CrossFit and yoga to try and feel normal, at least for one or two hours a day. I have also been studying as much as I can because of finals week, but now that that’s over, I don’t know what to do with myself.

When times like these happen, most people will tell me to just relax, but there’s one thing: I don’t know how to relax. I can’t sit there and just read a book or just watch television. My mind is always running, I am constantly moving, meaning I can’t stay still.  One of the things that have been helping me though is the 20-minute drive to my gym, listening to the country music I LOVE.

One advice that I can give to you if you’re going through a rough situation is to speak to someone. It is hard, trust me, I know, but it is a good feeling letting all those emotions out. If you can’t find someone to talk to just yet, pour your heart out on by doing someone you love, blast music in the car that touches your heart and sing to the top of your lungs… believe it or not, this helps with releasing your thoughts!

I’ll leave you with one quote that my professor told me the other day…

“If you don’t tell me what is going on, especially if you know that it is affecting your grade/life, I’m not going to be able to help you. So reach out, and then we’ll be able to help you more.”
