In the beginning of the year, I was sick for about 2 weeks. Something I ate made me so sick, I ended up at the emergency room and not going to work for about a week. I realized that during those weeks, I had been eating lots of creamy foods with lots of lactose so I decided to cut it. If you follow my instagram, you know my love for coffee so I needed “milk”; that’s when my mom told me about Lactaid, lactose-free milk that could help me with digestive health. Lactaid has been a must buy at my house since the beginning of the year and it has really helped me feel less bloated that’s why when I was approached to be a Lactaid brand ambassador, I was sooo happy! I really love this product.
So, with Thanksgiving happening this week, I thought making a lactose-free hot cocoa would sound like a yummy idea. No one wants to have tummy trouble when there’s such delicious food to eat all night long. For me, hot cocoa has to have real chocolate flavor; if you like strong chocolate and don’t want tummy trouble this Thanksgiving, try out this recipe.
- 1/4 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar – I use brown sugar or agave
- 1/3 cup of hot water
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 1 cup of lactose-free milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Mix cocoa powder, sugar, water, salt in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Lower the heat and add the cup of lactose-free milk. Stir until the coca mixes completely and serve. Serves 2.
For my family and me, Lactaid lactose-free milk is an essential. I encourage all of you to give it a try! It’s now more easily found as Walmart started carrying Lactaid as well! (Even Nikki likes it!)
Have you ever tried Lactaid products? Which one is your favorite?
