Try different types of exercise until you find one you like
Try different types of exercise until one feels right. It can be swimming, yoga, weights, HIIT, or something else. Go to various classes, download workouts online, maybe even get a session with a Personal Trainer if you’re unsure of what to do at the gym There’s something out there you’re going to like if you’re determined enough to find it.
Find a gym with a great atmosphere
Looking for a gym with a great atmosphere is crucial, as it’ll play a big part in how often you want to go to the gym. You’ll also feel more confident asking for help if you need it. Search for gym locations and ‘interview’ a few gyms by going to see them and asking questions before you make up your mind. You’ll want to join a gym where you feel confident to be vulnerable – this will help you in making less and less excuses to workout.
Manage your time better, no excuses workout!
Time is one of the biggest excuses that people make to skip a workout. The truth is, you have as much time as everybody else. You might be busy, sure, but if you prioritized exercise then you’d get it done. It’s that simple. Try using the phrase “it’s not a priority” instead of “I don’t have time” and see how that feels instead.
If you want to work out to improve your life, you’re going to need to get better at managing your time. Try getting up earlier in the morning and doing it first thing so you don’t have time to make excuses. You’ll feel better for the rest of the day then, too as your mind will be clear!
Define your goals and keep them in mind
Defining your goals and keeping them in mind and somewhere visible (write it down!) will give you a clear reason for going to work out. Here are some great reasons:
- To build confidence
- To get stronger/faster
- To feel better in your own skin/clothes
- To live longer
- To have better mental health
Wear clothes you love
You’re not going to want to go to the gym if you’re wearing clothes that drown your figure and don’t make you feel confident. Treat yourself to a few nice gym outfits and make sure you feel your best in them!
